New York City Pictures

I drove up to New York City
on Friday September 15th to see what happened. When I got there it felt very surreal seeing a very different
skyline from Newark, New Jersey, and the smell of burning electrical lines just made it even more surreal/strange/sad/pissed off/etc...
After waiting 30 minutes in traffic at the George Washington Bridge, I drove to Times Square to get something to eat. Never have I been
able to drive right up to a parking spot on Broadway until that day, and for a Friday night Times Square was like a ghost town. After I ate
I began the drive to lower Manhattan.. also very strange because I drove from 49th street to 11th street with no red lights! When I got there
I saw the grim scene of no towers and smoke filling the air. I parked on Grant street and began to walk to Henry Hudson

Parkway (Westside Highway), passing the
closed Holland Tunnel and ALOT of construction equipment. When I got to HHP I expected to see alot of people crying and just an overall sad
atmosphere. Every construction worker, firefighter, policeman, military personal that walked in or out of the controlled area was cheered
and applauded by the hundreds of people standing there giving all their support. It was a great feeling seeing the people support the
rescue team so much. After that I went to visit my aunt and uncle in Queens, while driving over the Triboro bridge I looked back again
at the Manhattan skyline...again lacking the twin towers. They were fine and were telling me about the past couple days and whats been going on.
I went home around midnight.

The next morning I was going to go back to the city, this time I took Heather Jones with me (for those who don't know
she went to High School with me, lives pretty close by, and she's a patriot!). We left here around 1PM and started the drive, again, going through
Newark we were able to see the smoke in place of the twin towers. The GW Bridge wasn't traffic packed like it had been the night before, and it had the
American Flag hanging down from it. Being big food addicts, we were pretty hungry by the time we got to NYC so we stopped
at TGI Fridays in Times Square, after that we walked around a little.

Then we drove down to lower Manhattan, again going through traffic grandma wouldn't
mind driving in. Driving up Canal street making a right on Westside HWY we drove past the blocks of people cheering for the rescue workers (and us cause
we're famous) we parked on some street with a strip bar on the corner (it was the only was we remembered where I parked). We walked back down to the
entrance for the rescue workers and just stood there watching and cheering for the workers. Even though we can't do much, we were boosting the moral of
the workers. After an hour we decided to go to 34th street to try and find some fake ID's, but no luck :( mostly cause Kelli Malia didn't call Heather
back and give her the scoop on where to get those bad boys.

Anyone reading this know where the fake ID store is in NY? So we just went window shopping for
legal items. Unfortunately my digital camera ran out of battery power when I was taking Heathers picture with some NYPD cops, so we bought one of those
disposable cameras(yuck!), those pics will be here soon. All in all, in spite of what was going on in that city it we had a great time and it was good
to escape every now and then from the feelings we all feel about this tragedy.
