Today Sol and I were planning to go to a Cal Poly girl filled bar/club in San Luis Obispo for new years,
it was about 6:15PM and we went to a movie theater to see Gangs of New York. Since there was an abundance
of time we said we should drive to Las Vegas for new years. Besides Sydney, Las Vegas is probably the
best new years party in the world! We called up Reni to check MapQuest to see how long it would take
to drive from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas, and it would be an hour too late. We called United Airlines
in San Luis Obispo airport, they had a flight there but it would have costed about a thousand bucks for
both of us to fly there. We figured that we would leave asap, drive twords Los Angeles, call airlines
while we drive and hope we get a flight. We got on highway 101 to LA and called airlines checking for
flights out of Santa Barbra, Oxnard, Burbank, or Los Angeles. Finally we found a good flight from LAX
to Vegas for less than a hundred bucks on America West airlines. As we got close to Los Angeles my
Moms car had almost no gas, the gas light was flashing with the guage was on E. I asked Sol for his
expert advice as to trying to get to the airport with the guage like that, he said go for it, and I
concured. We made it to LAX at about 9:25PM and ran to the terminal. Just our luck, the plane just
pushed away from the gate :( We walked around to other airlines, but their flights to Las Vegas
already left. All other flights didn't go anyplace cool in time for new years and we didn't bring
our passports to go to some other country. No big deal, Los Angeles is one of the biggest cities!
We headed over the Disneyland and learned a valuble lesson: Don't go to Disneyland for alcohol..
go to California Adventure. After the countdown and fireworks we drove to Santa Monica looking
for a party, but it seemed like everyone went to sleep early there...wussies. The pier didn't even
have anything going on except for people racing and cops threatening to cite us for parking in a
closed lot. Whatever could have prevente us from drinking on new years, happened. Oh well, Las Vegas new years party next year!
