(Cut from weblogs)
Today Sol and I had a party to attend in Marlton, NJ.. so we decided, instead of driving, to make a kick ass flying day out of it.
The path was Pottstown-Limrick (PTW) -> Atlantic City-Bader (AIY) -> South Jersey Regional (VAY) -> Philadelphia-Wings (LOM) -> Pottstown-Limrick (PTW).
We flew around downtown Philadelphia, then to Atlantic City where we bought supplies to contribute to the party...
wings at Hooters of course :) As I was flying to the shore we saw a banner tower approaching from the north, his flight path
would have taken him in front of us with no danger... Sol and I took a quick look at something to the right, and the next thing
we know that jackass banner tower changed his path and was coming strait for us, so I banked the plane into a steep right turn
to avoid him. Now that the rage is building as I think about that, I should have wrote down what his banner said so I
could complain about him later on. We saw him flying past the shore when we were on the boardwalk going to the Trump Taj Mahal.
The pattern for Atlantic City-Bader was interesting, the base and final turns for landing
took me around 500 feet above some buildings, and a very close horizontal distance to the taller buildings on the ocean front.
Takeoff was the same, flying strait to the buildings and making a left turn as soon as possible.
Then to South Jersey Regional in Mount Holly, NJ where we wasted money on a cab to Marlton, but we had a great time at the
party. After the party we flew to Wings Field to refuel and get
current for night time passenger carrying since we both haven't done 3 takeoffs and landings in the last 90 days at night.
After that, back to homebase at Pottstown-Limrick.
