Flight to Wilmington DE, Atlantic City NJ, & Philadelphia PA (08-23-2003)

(Cut from weblogs)
I took Pete and his woman for some cool flying today, the airport path was
Pottstown Limrick (PTW) -> Wilmington/New Castle County (ILG) -> Atlantic City Bader (AIY) -> Northeast Philadelphia (PNE) -> Pottstown
It was one heck of a windy day, the plane was sideways half the time just to counteract the wind. After takeoff we
flew around my house in Phoenixville, around the King of Prussia mall, around West Chester University, then landed in
Wilmington. In Wilmington we just got off the runway so Pete and Vicki could switch seats, then took off from the same
place we stopped. In Atlantic City we walked downtown to eat at a buffet, gambled away some money, and it was 11PM before
we knew it. After takeoff and about half an hour later we were approaching downtown Philadelphia from the south east.
I was just going to fly around the outside of it, but with the combination of laziness and such a cool view at night I
just got a Class B clearence from Philadelphia Approach and flew right over downtown. The view was beautiful, Pete was able
to get some night vision shots of the city so just imagine those pictures in color :). After that we landed at Northeast
Philadelphia airport so they could swap places again for the ride home. We finally got back to home base around 2AM... Fun stuff!

| Vicki and Pete | Here is what it looks like without night vision. Increasing the exposure time wouldn't work
because the plane is moving.. it would be one big blur. |
